Help Save Our Station
The Belle Valley Volunteer Fire Department is committed to working alongside every emergency responder serving Millcreek Township. Three years ago when the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors created a paid fire department, the intent was to supplement the four volunteer departments.
What has occurred since, though, has deviated from that intent. The Belle Valley Volunteer Fire Department has grown increasingly concerned about a number of matters, including an agreement that it refused to sign, which would have required the nonprofit organization to hand over all assets – including its fire station, all trucks, equipment – to the Township.
At the Jan. 24, 2023, Board of Supervisors meeting during which Ordinance 2023-1 creating a paid fire department in Millcreek Township was approved, the Township Supervisors agreed that, “The Millcreek Township Fire Department will not replace the volunteer fire departments, but rather that it will supplement the emergency services that the volunteer fire departments provide.” (See meeting minutes, page 3)
The Belle Valley Fire Department is concerned that the paid department has expanded beyond its original purpose of supplementing volunteer companies. Preserving strong volunteer fire departments is essential to protecting public safety.

What You Can Do

Dear Supervisors Bock, Clear, and Morris:
As a resident of Millcreek Township, I am very concerned that the paid fire department has not aligned with the intention of Ordinance 2023-1, approved on Jan. 24, 2023, which was to create a paid fire department to supplement the four volunteer departments. I strongly urge you to make clear public statements that you will direct Township Fire Chief Mike Cliff to return to the original intent of the fire department as approved by the Supervisors.
Sincerely,
